Fall Beauty Obsessions

I should probably just get it tattooed on me at this point.. I’m obsessed with Fall. I’m going to share with you all what I’ve been loving so far into this season. I didn’t get a chance to do a “september favorites” post.. so here is my kinda september favorites and kinda october favorites collection of stuff:

Essie Nail Polishes

Until recently, I was a total ONLY O.P.I kinda girl. I really don’t have any reasoning behind that other than I thought they were the best and I liked how the color turnout was. But, I bought the purple polish in the shade ‘Bahama Mama’ back in September and really liked how it looked. Then, just a few days ago I purchased the coppery-gold shade ‘Leggy Legend’ and it is SO PERFECT for this time of year. It’s on my nails now and I’m very obsessed. Sorry for cheating on you O.P.I

PRICE: $8.50 each (I got mine at Ulta)

Midnight Romance by Ralph Lauren

I’m very picky when it comes to fragrances. I rarely like any and I have to smell the entire perfume section at Sephora to figure out which one I like. This one really INTRIGUED me. It has a almost fruity, sultry scent and I am into it. I would suggest it, but everyone has super different opinions on fragrance.

Also, the next fragrance I’m looking to buy is Elizabeth & James (aka Mary Kate + Ashley Olsen) Nirvana Black. It is suppper rich and almost manly.. just my kind of perfume.

PRICE (for Midnight Romance): $54.00 at Sephora

Skin Saviors

I have the driest skin known to mankind. My hands get absolutely awful the second the weather changes (but really I have problems in the summer too). Absolutely no other lotion works for my hands other than Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Hand Cream. This stuff is AMAZING. It isn’t greasy and gross like lots of other lotions and it absorbs super quick. This is my second container of it. Also, I have to have my Body Shop Lip Butter because these lips crack super easy. It hydrates your lips all day and tastes good as a bonus.

PRICE: Gold Bond – Around $5.00 at any drugstore

Body Shop Lip Butter – $7.00

All The Naked Palettes (almost)

The hype is true.. these are amazing. I’ve had the first Naked Palette for a super long time. I think I got it the Christmas after it came out. Since I sparingly use eyeshadows, all of my colors are still intact. I love each one separately and can’t pick a favorite. Here’s the simple way to identify them: Naked 1: Super Natural Tones 2. Smoky Eyes and Cool Tones 3. Pinky Tones

They are each around $54.00 which is kinda pricey compared to your average drugstore eyeshadows (obviously) but these are so worth it. I have yet to get the Naked Smoky palette because I rarely wear any super dark eye looks.

Lorac Pro, Naked Flushed and Dream BB

I got the Lorac Pro before last Christmas and didn’t really get around to using it much until Summer. These shadows have such good color payoff and are all really gorgeous. I usually mix the shades from this with shades from the Naked Palettes. It’s definitely one of my favorites that I own.

The Naked Flushed palette was given to me by my good friend (I know she’s so nice) and I have really been liking it. I am usually terrified of blushes because I always feel like I over-do it.. but the pink shade in here is really subtle and natural. I’m a fan. It also has a bronzer and highlighter inside. It’s a super nice little package.

I use the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream very often (like everyday often) because it’s super light and the coverage is perfect for me. I have like exceptionally clear skin for how bad I am at taking care of it, so I don’t need a whole lot of coverage. It also acts as a moisturizer and sunscreen which I really appreciate.

Lorac Pro: $42.00 on their website

Naked Flushed: $32.00 at Sephora

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream: $6.29 at Target

These aren’t just any sunglasses.. They’re PRESCRIPTION sunglasses. When I found out about these cheap prescription sunglasses I was literally the happiest person ever. I have really bad vision (like so bad I can’t see anything but BLUR without my glasses on) and these allow me to finally see out of SUNGLASSES. I got them on Eyebuydirect.com. It’s one of those cheap glasses websites where you tell them your prescription and they make them for you. It’s a pretty great deal. They go with almost everything I wear too (I also have a different black pair).

Candles and More Candles

I worked at Bath and Body Works.. I worked at White Barn.. and I can officially say that I know my candles. There is nothing that brings me more joy than getting new candles. I am especially in love with every single fall scented candle that exists pretty much. I picked up Sweater Weather and Leaves from White Barn a few weeks ago and I can’t stop burning them. Also I had to include one of my all-time favorite candles Woodwick Campfire Marshmallow.. this one lasts forever (even though mine is almost gone) and smells so good. It also crackles while it burns!

Try to go to Bath and Body Works or White Barn during a sale like 2 for $24. They happen all the time so just check in once in a while. Otherwise they’re $22.50 each for a 3-wick which is just ridiculous.

There is no such thing as too many candles. GO CRAZY.

Thanks for reading everyone and welcome new followers!

xoxo Emily

My Need-To-Have Fall Lipsticks

Lipstick is essential to me in my makeup routine. I could wear ONLY lipstick and i’d be satisfied. When Fall rolls around, I get super excited that I can wear my dark shades day or night.

Lipstick is universal. Every woman can find a shade that works for them (or that is a total disaster).. and almost everyone has a go-to shade. I definitely have my tight, trusty crew of colors that work for every outfit.

Here are some of my favorite FALL shades that I can’t wait to start using again:

Before you apply any lipstick or stain, be sure to lather your lips with a moisturizer or lip balm!

My favorite moisturizer is The Body Shop’s Lip Butter ($7.00). It’s a miracle worker.

Lipstick #1: Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in the shade Bauhau5

IMG_2416 IMG_2418

(Fun fact: That little nub of a stick is all that is left. I have used and abused this lipstick)

This is MY lipstick. It’s described as a matte deep raspberry. This shade virtually has nothing wrong with it. It is good for day or night, not only during fall.. I wear this all year, and it stays on. When it does start to fade, it leaves behind a beautiful berry kiss. The formula is lush and smooth. I’m very pale, but this shade looks good on every skin tone. Once I run out, and I’ve had this a long time, I will definitely have to get another. This is one YOU NEED TO TRY.

PRICE: $21.00 (available at Sephora)

IMG_2414 IMG_2399

Lipstick #2: MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in the shade Ruby Woo

IMG_2419 IMG_2420

(Just like Bauhau5, I’ve used this one down to a small, little nub)

It’s no secret that MAC owns the lipstick game. I only own two of them (Ruby Woo and Diva) and they’ve completely met my expectations. The pigmentation in Ruby Woo is ridiculous. When people say they’re looking for that “perfect red”, IT’S RUBY WOO. This shade lasts allllll day. It’s such a classically beautiful look and will stand through fashion seasons to come. The formula is very comfortable and soft; it never flakes. I think every girl should own this (unless you hate red).

PRICE: $17.00 (available on MAC Cosmetics website)

IMG_2422 IMG_2423

Lipstick #3: Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in the shade MÖtorhead

IMG_2430 IMG_2431

(This is a smaller size lipstick from a variety pack I got for Christmas)

Yet, another Kat Von D shade. I’m a big fan of her lipsticks and have you seen that packaging? Black studs.. how can you not. This shade is obviously QUITE dark, and it’s definitely not an everyday shade (unless you want to, then work it girl). It gives every look an edgy, badass twist. For me, the only time I would even dare to wear this is nighttime during Autumn. The application is a little tough since this shade is crazy dark; if you miss, it stains your face. But, it’s all worth it to turn into a grunge princess.

Price: $21.00 (for a full size, available at Sephora)

IMG_2427 IMG_2428

Lipstick #4: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Copenhagen

(Soft tip applicator, not a typical lipstick tube)

If you haven’t heard great things about these yet, I’m gonna blow a little more sunshine up its tube. These are fantastic lipsticks. They stay on all day, barely flake until you go crazy eating something and have an insane pigmentation. Copenhagen is a burnt cherry/burgundy shade.. which SCREAMS Fall. It’s soft as butter and makes your lips feel amazing. Try this one and them all.

PRICE: $5.99 (Available at ULTA) — you really can’t beat this price.

IMG_2435 IMG_2436

(It looks lighter in the second pic, not sure why, it’s accurate to the first picture)

Lipstick #5: Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in the shade Lovecraft

IMG_2443 IMG_2444

Can you tell I adore Kat’s lipsticks yet?

This is an awesome shade if you’re looking for a taupe-nude. I normally steer away from these kinds of shades since I am so pale, but this one is actually wearable! I really like the color because it has a slightly pinky undertone. If I can feel comfortable in this shade, anyone can (seriously). It’s very nice for daytime during fall and can basically match anything you’re wearing (maybe unless you’re wearing taupe). Quality is just like the other Studded Kiss Lipsticks I mentioned.

PRICE: $21.00 (Available at Sephora)

I hope this was helpful in your journey for some great fall shades!

Comment below with your favorite shade (even if it’s not listed here).

Fall Tea Haul: Tasting + Review

I am a huge tea lover. I’ve mentioned this in previous posts, but I can’t talk about it enough. Since I’ve had to give up coffee, I had to replace it with something.. and that something is warm, scrumptious flavored teas.

Fall is the best time for pretty much everything (opinion), and tea is no exception. There is something so cozy about a hot cup tea on a crisp, cool fall night.

My boyfriend Tom and I have teamed up to give you a thorough review of 6 Fall teas from DAVIDsTEA. We made sure to only select ones that we would want to drink during the cold-weather months. We are both pretty skilled in tea tasting (according to us). We had a wonderful help from the super kind employees in picking out some flavors.

There is a new Fall collection that they offered us to taste in store and they were all pretty great, but we decided to take home a few that we didn’t have the chance to try.

The six teas we decided to review are: Pumpkin Chai, Cranberry Orange Muffin, Honeycrisp Apple, Forever Nuts, Oh Canada! and Peanut Butter Cup.

So, we filled our mugs up and here we go:

Pumpkin Chai

Tea Type: Chai (obviously)

Fall Collection (limited)

Smell: Like a fresh baked batch of pumpkin squares. Super strong scent that you can smell across the room.

Taste: A warm, cinnamon pumpkin flavor. This is super nice for Fall. It made us so warm and giggly. We laughed for about 20 minutes. This is Tom’s favorite Chai he’s had (that’s saying something). I’m a big fan of Chai tea, and this one certainly tickled my fancy. I’d suggest giving it a go.

EMILY: 7/10

TOM: 6/10

Cranberry Orange Muffin

Tea Type: Herbal

Fall Collection (limited)

Smell: Subtle cranberry, certainly more muffin. Calming.

Taste: You get an orangey taste all over the buds at first sip, but it then mellows out into a final cranberry taste. The smell was misleading with the strength of the muffin; we only got a slight muffin taste at the very end. Very good tea, we agreed this is one of the best. It’s good for pretty much all the time because of how mellow it is. Muffins you can always have (can’t say no to that!).

EMILY: 7.5/10

TOM: 8.5/10

Honeycrisp Apple

Tea Type: Green

Fall Collection (limited)

Smell: Fruity and strong apple smell. Fresh outta the orchard.

Taste: If you love apple juice or cider, this is FOR YOU. I am a huge apple fan, so please note that this may be a little bias, and I could drink this all day everyday. It has a sweet, crisp deliciousness. Tom, however, was not a huge fan (he’s not big on apples). So, if you’re into those fall-time fruits, go grab yourself a cup of this.

**The only tea listed that contains caffeine

EMILY: 8.5/10

TOM: 5/10

Forever Nuts

Tea Type: Herbal

Smell: Straight up Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Taste: We were right, it tastes like liquified Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The balance of flavors is literally perfect. The cinnamon isn’t overpowering at all. This is probably the best one of the bunch. It is PERFECT for cooler weather. Super impressed. TRY IT.

IMG_2342 IMG_2343

EMILY: 8.5/10

TOM: 8.5/10

Oh Canada!

Tea Type: Rooibos

Rooibos Collection

Smell: Aunt Jemima syrup… mixed with butter.

Taste: Saves you a trip across the border, aye? Subtle, delicious maple syrup flavor. This is pretty grade A. It’s an interesting flavor explosion, but we decided that this wouldn’t be an everyday tea. It would be nice to have for once in a while, like when you’re sitting next to a fire.. or going to a pancake convention.

IMG_2361 IMG_2363

EMILY: 7/10

TOM: 6.5/10

Peanut Butter Cup

Tea Type: Herbal

Fall Collection (limited)

Smell: Melted peanut butter…. nothing is better than that

Taste: Hugely disappointed by this one, especially with us both being pretty big Reese’s PB Cup fans. The entire taste is basically peanut.. virtually no ‘cup’ (aka chocolate) can be detected. If you are a peanut fanatic, definitely give it a try. It’s a little overpowering and rough.

EMILY: 4/10

TOM: 4/10

Super impressed with DAVIDsTEA. Every flavor was pretty good, and they have a super wide variety. Would definitely go back and try out more.

Thanks so much for reading!

I hope you guys grab some tea to try for the upcoming season.
